¿POR QUÉ PROMOVER UNA PROPAGANDA SINIESTRA? NETFLIX: NO PROMUEVAS PROPAGANDA CASTRISTA Y LASTIMES MÁS A LAS VÍCTIMAS VERDADERAS

Miami, Florida – 30 de Julio del 2020 –Asamblea de la Resistencia Cubana.- Una carta de protesta de la Asamblea de la Resistencia Cubana (ARC) con fecha del 30 de julio del 2020, fue enviada hoy a los ejecutivos de la corporación Netflix,  reclamándoles que provean “tiempo igual” a las víctimas de la Masacre de los Hermanos al Rescate y que remuevan el letrero que aparece al principio de la película, donde dice que está “basada en hechos reales”. La carta también fue dirigida a las compañías de representación y/o agentes del reparto artístico quienes se han pronunciado a favor de los derechos humanos anteriormente.

          La carta  a Netflix de la Asamblea de la Resistencia Cubana también fue firmada por organizaciones de Nicaragua y Venezuela, demanda la verdad y exactitud de la compañía en relación a la película “Wasp Network” (Red Avispa), la cual fue mostrada falsamente con “BASADA EN HECHOS REALES”. La película además presenta a la comunidad del exilio cubano como terroristas, a su vez es inmoral al intentar justificar la Masacre del 24 de febrero de los pilotos y voluntarios de Hermanos al Rescate, por parte del Régimen Castrista.

          La película “The Wasp Network” hace eco del Régimen de Castro en relación a los activistas por la democracia que se oponen al Castrismo. La misma ha causado indignación en el Exilio cubano y en otras comunidades que han sufrido de primera mano la perversidad del Régimen de los Castro.

          La Asamblea de la Resistencia Cubana consiste en representantes de las organizaciones líderes pro democracia, dentro y fuera de Cuba.

Dear Mr. Hastings:
The murderous Castro regime has spent over six decades spinning their atrocities while depriving Cubans of their basic human rights.  The embargo and the Cuban exiles top their “go to” excuses for their failures and crimes.  Anytime they are faced with the reality of their actions sympathizers will step in repeating the regime’s mantra. “The Wasp Network” culminates this point with an insidious marketing trifecta: book, turned star-studded movie that is now internationally distributed – as “true”. It is in the peddling this as “true” that we reach out to Netflix since that is precisely the role it has placed itself in by buying the rights of distribution in the U.S. and other key international markets.  Netflix accepts the presentation of this film as “True” and builds on that by billing it as such on all Netflix marketing platforms (sample below). Now Netflix has become the latest influencer propping up a decrepit, criminal regime and turning a blind eye to all their victims.
 
Oliver Assayas wrote the screenplay and directed “The Wasp Network” film based on a book titled “Last Soldiers of the Cold War” by Cuban Regime sympathizer Fernando Morais. Morais, a staunch supporter of the Castro regime, is a Brazilian writer utilizing the literary format to present propaganda all dressed up and marketed in a book format. It was Ricardo Alarcon, Cuban former head of the communist regimes’ assembly of popular power who thought of his “old and proven friend” Morais for a book. Back in 2005 Alarcon and Morais met at “El Floridita” in Havana[1] where Morais committed to dedicating himself to writing about “the five”. 
“The Wasp Network” film takes the regime’s talking points and promotional objective from print to film.

Internationally recognized actors uttering the mantras; the embargo (not the regime) blamed for Cuba’s condition, downplaying the level and reach of the WASP network’s espionage and murder conspiracy, the blanket labeling and portrayal of Cuban exiles as terrorists, attempted justification for crimes proven in a court of law and total disregard for the real victims. This is straight out of the Cuban Regime’s playbook and it is ‘now playing’ under the false and slanderous pretense of being “Based on True Events”.

The film also has a brazen disregard for federal law, specifically, Title III & IV of the Cuban Libertad Act by utilizing property stolen by the Cuban regime during this for-profit venture. The Pollack Mansion in Havana Cuba for example, is the site location where the wedding reception scene is filmed. By conducting a for-profit business within the footprint of stolen property in Cuba, the filmmakers are in breach of federal law. Netflix has now purchased the rights to this film knowing that it features the evidence of the illegal activity taking place.
 
The Assembly of the Cuban Resistance “ARC” the coalition of pro-democracy groups inside and outside Cuba demands the following:
 
Netflix:
Removal of “Based on True Events” on Netflix promotional media –Given the degree of regime rhetoric, false narrative and facts withheld, Netflix is adding its name and reputation towards the legitimization the Cuban Regime’s talking points. This movie was based on a book whose origins clearly establish its motive for being published.
Addition of the four victims of the Brothers to the Rescue Massacre:
Armando Alejandre Jr., Carlos Costa, Mario De La Peña and Pablo Morales. Since Netflix purchased the exhibition rights to US and other major markets for this film, the images, names, ages, and birthplace of the four victims of the murder conspiracy must be added and cannot be ignored.

The Assembly of the Cuban Resistance to be given the opportunity to address the Netflix audience about the messaging of this film from the prospective of the Cuban exiles, Cubans within the island and victim families.
This is where we begin the process of righting a wrong, setting the record straight.

Actors:
In viewing interviews, many of you have personally endorsed the information portrayed in this film as factually correct. As influencers of public opinion, backing up the position of the Cuban regime, supporting convicted criminals, and blatantly ignoring the massacre of four young lives on a humanitarian mission is shameful. We are submitting this letter to your  representatives in the hope to set up a virtual meeting at your earliest convenience with members of ARC and family members of the victims. Many of you have expressed in the past a desire to support human rights. We hope that you will honor that desire.

Netflix:
Following a trial in the United States that lasted six months, each Cuban agent was convicted on espionage charges, with one (Hernandez) convicted of conspiracy to commit murder. Among other things, the WASP Network reported information to Cuba about the operation of military facilities, political and law enforcement activities and activities of organizations based in the United States who support change in the regime of Cuba.

Gerardo Hernandez
Convicted on 13 counts:
One count of conspiracy to gather and transmit national-defense information
Eight counts for acting as a foreign agent of a foreign government without notifying the Attorney General-One count for conspiracy to do so
Two counts for fraud and misuse of documents
One count of possession with intent to use five or more fraudulent identification documents
and One count of conspiracy to commit murder
Hernandez was sentenced to concurrent terns of life imprisonment on the counts of conspiracy to commit murder and to gather and transmit national-defense information. On the other counts, Hernandez was sentenced to shorter terms of imprisonment, which run concurrently with one another and with his life sentences.
 
Ruben Campa (a.k.a. Fernando Gozales-Llort)
Convicted on 5 counts:
Two counts for acting as a foreign agent of a foreign government without notifying the Attorney General-One count for conspiracy to do so
One count for fraud and misuse of documents
One count of possession with intent to use five or more fraudulent identification documents
Sentenced to 228 months of imprisonment
 
Luis Medina III (a.k.a. Ramon Labañino-Salazar)
Convicted on 10 counts:
Four counts for acting as a foreign agent of a foreign government without notifying the Attorney General-One count for conspiracy to do so
One count of conspiracy to gather and transmit national-defense information
Two counts of fraud and misuse of documents
Sentenced to life imprisonment on the conspiracy charge, on the other counts, was sentenced to shorter terms of imprisonment, which run concurrently with one another and with his life sentence.

Rene Gonzalez
Convicted on 2 counts:
One for acting as a foreign agent of a foreign government without notifying the Attorney General-One count for conspiracy to do so
He was sentenced to five years imprisonment on the conspiracy count and a consecutive term of ten years on the substantive count.

Antonio Guerrero
Convicted on 3 counts:
One for acting as a foreign agent of a foreign government without notifying the Attorney General-One count for conspiracy to do so
One count of conspiracy to gather and transmit national-defense information
Guerrero was sentenced to life imprisonment for conspiracy to gather and transmit national-defense information, for each of the other counts, Guerrero was sentenced to shorter terms of imprisonment, which run concurrently with Guerrero’s life sentence.

Medina and Campa supervised attempts by other agents to penetrate the Miami facility of the Southern Command. Under the supervision of Medina, Campa, and Hernandez, Guerrero obtained employment at the Key West Naval.

Juan Pablo Roque
Escaped Justice, fled to Cuba
Infiltrated humanitarian group “Brothers to the Rescue” Castro's air force, using intelligence gathered in part by Roque, shot down two small unarmed planes off Havana, killing three United States Citizens and one Resident.
Ana Margarita Martinez, a Cuban exile whom Roque married in the United States as part of his deception won a judgment against the Cuban regime. A federal judge in Florida found Cuba liable for Roque's actions, saying he was "especially offended that Cuba – a country that disregards human rights – has callously trampled the rights of one of our own citizens on our own soil in furtherance of a vile criminal conspiracy."

On December 17, 2014 President Obama made a live announcement from the White House. It was live at that moment that the family of the Brother’s to the Rescue Massacre victims found out that the Cuban spies that had conspired in the murder of their loved ones had been released from federal prison and were already back in Cuba where they were met with a hero’s welcome. Justice was ripped from them with the swipe of a presidential pen.

There has been U.S. indictment on the records for the Air Force Commander and Pilots and one long overdue for Raul Castro.
