Miami, Florida- May 18, 2018 – Asamblea de la Resistencia Cubana (Assembly of the Cuban resistance). Spokespersons for the Assembly of the Cuban Resistance have expressed their approval of the comments made by Florida Governor Rick Scott in support of establishing an international tribunal to indict the Communist Dictatorship of Cuba and Raul Castro for crimes against humanity and specifically for the 1996 massacre of four members of the human rights group Brothers to the Rescue.
The Governor spoke at a meeting held at the Museum of the Cuban Diaspora which was coordinated by Marcell Felipe founder of Inspire America (Inspira America). The meeting was attended by prominent members of the Cuban exile community who’s objective was to discuss with the Governor ideas on how to advance the efforts to liberate Cuba. Among the attendees were key members of the Assembly of the Cuban Resistance like Sylvia G. Iriondo of Mothers Against Repression in Cuba (MAR por Cuba), Horacio Garcia of the Council for Freedom in Cuba (Consejo por la Libertad de Cuba)and Dr. Orlando and Silvia Gutierrez-Boronat of the Directorate for Democracy in Cuba (Directorio Democratico Cubano).
Sylvia G. Iriondo, a survivor of the named massacre and leader of Mothers Against Repression in Cuba (MAR por Cuba), spoke to the Governor regarding this initiative which is based on section 116(b) of the Cuba Liberty Act.
“The Governor’s support on this matter is very important. We urge everyone to please go to www.justiciacuba.com and sign this vital petition to President Trump for justice and liberty in Cuba. It is time for the crimes against humanity perpetrated by the Castro regime to be prosecuted by an International Tribunal” said Dr. Orlando Gutierrez-Boronat.
