JusticeCuba announces Dr. Eduardo Cardet Concepción
Recipient of 2018 “Pedro Luis Boitel Liberty Award”
as a growing number of brave Cuban opposition leaders demand justice.

Miami, Florida – December 3, 2018- JusticeCuba- A delegation from the JusticeCuba International Commission announced Amnesty International Prisoner of Conscience Dr. Eduardo Cardet Concepción as the recipient of the 2018 Premio Pedro Luis Boitel. This annual award presented by the Cuban Democratic Directorate “Directorio”, recognizes Cubans in their unwavering battle to establish human rights and liberty for Cuba.
Dr. Eduardo Cardet Concepción, coordinator of the Christian Liberation Movement, was brutally beaten, arrested and sentenced to three years after having criticized Fidel Castro during an interview on Madrid based Radio.
Amnesty International has officially recognized Dr. Cardet as a prisoner of conscience and this past July UN Watch filed a petition with the UN Working Group for Arbitrary Detention demanding the release of Dr. Cardet.
JusticeCuba joins the Cuban Democratic Directorate in demanding the release of Dr. Eduardo Cardet Concepción as well as that of all Cuban political prisoners. These inhumane detentions constitute crimes against humanity; JusticeCuba is seeking to put an end to the Castro regime’s impunity.
Dr. Orlando Gutierrez-Boronat of the Cuban Democratic Directorate presented the JusticeCuba delegation with the names of over 300 Cuban opposition leaders inside the island calling for the prosecution of the Castro regime for crimes against humanity spanning six decades to date.
